What is “Certified Welding”? It depends on who you ask. Some would say it’s the paperwork behind the welding, but it’s so much more! Here at FinishLine this is what we consider “Certified Welding”:
It’s a knowledge of the standards such as ASTM, AISC, AWS, and ANSI/TIA. It’s an understanding of the drawings, weld symbols and assumptions built in to the construction drawings. It’s experience with, and a technical understanding of weld inspection, destructive & non-destructive testing. It’s an education in welding including metallurgy, heat transfer, and fatigue.
A good analogy would be the difference between a Dr. title the day after someone receives their doctorate degree, for others like us, it’s the old wrinkly doc with decades of experience, years of education, and a following that proves it.
